This is a special appeal to those Divisions who are involved in General Applied Psychology to participate as a full Division BY APRIL 5th – 8 days from now. The direction that most of this post Hoffman work is going by very committed senior leaders and advocates is in service to what current President McDaniel describes as “psychology is a health profession”, we APA member psychologists are healers who must protect individuals. For many of us (both HSPs and GAPs) working in ethically complex situations and in dedicated service to teams, whole organizations, systems, and societies (effectiveness, policy, procedures, decisions, instruction, advocacy, and so much more), this simply does not fit and does not work. Our ethics operate on multiple simultaneous levels with multiple clients.
Even the current Monitor (April) makes some very clear assertions that human rights is fundamentally about do no harm to individuals. This is becoming an unchallenged truth rather than a vital/central focus of conversation. Recall Hippocrates himself said – first help, then seek to minimize harm (both/and).
